This cross stitch design is a handmade piece inspired by a love of film and traditional sewing. Every detail has been carefully researched and stitched by me, combining iconic movie imagery with classic needlework techniques. Created for both sewing enthusiasts and movie fans, it celebrates the charm of handcrafted art while paying tribute to a beloved cult classic.

PATTERN MEASUREMENTS

MEASUREMENTS AND STITCHING
105 stitches width x 141 stitches height
Finished stitch area on 14 count is 7.5" wide x 10.1" high or 19.5cm x 25.6cm, roughly A4 with a small border.

35DMC skeins are used and a suggested colour chart is included. Please feel free to make substitutions using floss you already have or colour ways you prefer.

For best results use a light coloured 14 count aida and use 2 strands of floss, or 3 if you favour fuller coverage. Make sure to leave a 3 inch border around the stitch area for mounting.

Pattern mainly uses full stitches, however to add detail and make colours pop some back stitching and a fair few 3/4 stitches are required. Therefore this may not be suitable for a beginner.

MATERIALS & STITCHING

Recommended Fabric: For best results, we suggest using a light-coloured 14-count Aida.
Floss: Our charts use DMC thread codes. Feel free to swap colours for what you have in your stash!
Skill Level: Most patterns use full stitches with some backstitching for detail. See individual listings for specific 3/4 stitch requirements.

ABOUT ME

Every element, from pattern design to print has been designed and hand stitched by myself, Helen Bretherton of Sew Needlejuice.

I began cross stitching 10 years ago as a mess free hobby to do around my children but soon found its therapeutic qualities hugely beneficial to mental wellbeing. Now I cant stop!

Having always been a huge fan of cross stitch samplers but uninspired by endless floral and twee patterns I decided to combine the traditional craft with my love of pop culture to create these totally unique, modern and vibrant designs. My degree in Visual Art and Culture lent itself perfectly to this.

This is my own one woman business which I run whilst raising 3 children and working part time in a museum. With constant inspiration from music, tv and film I will continue to cloth stab my way through popular culture.

IS THIS PATTERN RIGHT FOR ME?

  • Beginner: You know how to thread a needle and find the middle of the fabric. This pattern mainly uses full cross stitches with 3/4 stitches and minimal backstitching. Perfect for a first-time cloth stabbing session!
  • Intermediate: You’ve finished a few hoops and aren't afraid of a bit of detail. This pattern includes backstitching and 3/4 stitches to make the characters pop.
  • Advanced: You’re a master of the thread. This is a larger project with intricate detail, blended colors, or specialty threads. Bring a cup of tea and settle in.
